Kansas University men’s basketball coach Bill Self has signed a new 10-year contract that will pay him $3 million per year, KU announced today.

The agreement begins retroactively on April 1, 2008, and expires in March 2018. Self’s prior contract had three years remaining (expiring March 2011).

Holy Hell...

That is a lot of money. We all knew he was getting an extension, but I know I didn’t expect him to get that much a year for that long.

It’s fully worth it, of course, as Bill Self is easily a Top 5 College Coach right now, and not complaining whatsoever, just surprised that he got that much.

I’m not so surprised by the amount per year as I am the actual length of the contract. I’ll take it though as this is great news.
