Kansas Lands 4 Star JUCO Pass Rusher
The recruiting grind continues on and Kansas has yet again landed a talented player in a key spot for the future. JayhawkSlant is reporting that 4 Star Junior College defensive end Quintin Woods has committed to Kansas starting in the 2009 season.
Woods came on as a bit of a surprise recruit of late visiting Lawrence for an official on the weekend of the 12th. Following the visit the folks over at the slant had been reporting that he was a heavy heavy Kansas lean, but with recruiting it's never over until it's over and it appears Woods has made it official. Woods will be looked to as a pass rusher for a Kansas defense that is looking for a consistent push up front. At 6'6" 245 pounds and 4.65 speed Woods fits the bill physically to do so. Initially committed to Michigan out of high school Woods will land on campus after wrapping up his time at Bakersfield CC in California.
Woods makes Kansas' 19th known commitment for the 2009 class and the 3rd four star rated player for Mark Mangino and the Jayhawks.

Man, I was just putting up a fan post about this. Haha. Nice job though.
I love the momentum this is building for us. Big time players and recruits with offers from good school. He is exactly what we need for next season on the field, but he may also be one more piece of what we need next year with recruiting as well.
Good lookin out though...
Obviously if you guys catch something before we do throw it up, that’s being a fan and welcomed…looks like I must have hit publish about a minute before but that’s it…kinda funny.
as far as the recruiting momentum, couldn’t agree more. To steal a line I read elsewhere with regards to Coach Mangino’s oft used phrase sawin wood…we are now sawin wood w/a sharper blade, and that’s a very good thing.
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
On a side note...
It sounds like we’ve got a few that could make some moves in the near future…
Erik McGriff
Chris Omigie
Dequin Evans
Bradley McDougald
Are a few names floating around right now w/McGriff and Omigie probably very close to deciding one way or the other.

Looking forward
Looks like our defense may finally get back into form next year. D-line is the most important part of your defense, as if you can deny movement in the middle you can shut down the run, which allows your safeties to focus on helping the cornerbacks. This also allows your defensive ends to pin back their ears on the pass rush once the run has been denied, increasing sacks, deflections, and interceptions, and in general making everyone in the secondary look better. And, you don’t have to blitz.
Pressure with your front four – priceless.
