Ronnie Wingo Jr., the nation’s No. 71-ranked high school football player in the Class of 2009, scheduled an official visit with Kansas University on Tuesday, according to Rivals.com.
Wingo, a productive runner and receiver for St. Louis University High, told Rivals.com he scheduled the visit during a home visit with KU coach Mark Mangino and assistant Ed Warinner.
"The balance of the offense at Kansas is something I really like. It’s a spread offense, but the number of times KU runs the ball and the number of times they bass the ball is just about the same. You wouldn’t think it would be that even, but it is."
Wingo, who is listed at 6-foot-3, 212 pounds, has received scholarship offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Tennessee, according to Rivals.
KU Sports -- Month Off Welcomed by KU
Ronnie Wingo, as mentioned in the quote, is a big-time, national recruit that has received schollies from plenty of damn fine football programs. The fact he's considering us is impressive enough, especially considering the guy is from St. Louis, and it goes to show just how absolutely critical the Arrowhead victory was.

Kenny/Sweedish...
This was the guy I was referring to last night, It sounds like KU is very much a player for this one and he and his entire family,(parents and siblings) will be in Lawrence the weekend of the 19th. If Ed Warriner can pull this rabbit out of the hat it would be a major coup.
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
Yeah this guy would be huge
he is near the top ranked athlete in the class isn’t he?

ranked #2 in the class...
and a guy that would have an instant impact in my opinion. What makes this even bigger is the fact that we would be getting this one out of St. Louis, over MU over Illinois and he also has offers from Alabama and Nebraska among others.
My gut says we probably don’t end up with Wingo but he and his father have developed a very strong relationship with Ed Warriner so we’ve definitely got a shot. The visit alone w/the entire family I think is a sign of the progress the program is making.

With our offense
I don’t know why more receivers and backs want to come here. If they’re good, they’ll touch the ball a lot, and not be overshadowed by anyone else. Maybe it’s just me, but coming to a program like KU would seem ideal.
Insanity is just a state of mind.
recruiting
I hear if we are able to get Wingo we would have a top 25 class overall and that would be something that would be hard to ignore by the nation. We will lose a lot of talent after next year so this class will be very important for us to keep the momentum going. To get Wingo would be huge in keeping us on track to eventually be a consistent major player in the Big 12. I am very happy with this class overall so I won’t be too sad if we don’t get him, but STOKED if we do.
