I recently heard about a program I wanted to bring to everyone's attention here that might be of further assistance in understanding the history of this great rivalry. I myself don't claim to be an expert in this realm so I thought I would put an interesting item out there for those of you who care to learn more.

MetroSports KC is airing a documentary "The Border War Rivalry" on Wednesday evening the 26th of November. If I am not mistaken there will be two showings one at 7pm and one at 9pm. Those who are in the Kansas City area may already be aware of it but those who aren't and for those who haven't seen the trailer check out the link.
