Open Game Thread :: Game #8 :: #8 Texas Tech 7-0 (3-0) @ #23 Kansas 5-2 (2-1)

Texas Tech Red Raiders at Kansas Jayhawks, Oct 25, 2008 11:00 AM CDT

This game is large. It isn't incredibly large, of course, as I mentioned, because of our Big 12 possibilities stay essentially the same whether we win or lose.

But, it is oh-so-big in numerous other ways. National perspective, allowing us some leeway the rest of the way, proving ourselves, all that sort of stuff. Plus, a win here sets us up nicely for clinching the 'Best Game of the Week' award for the week of November 15th, when the University of Texas pays us a visit. And as long as Texas stays in the BCS National Title hunt, with an 8-2 Kansas team, College Gameday will likely pay us a visit. Oh, and I'll be there. Can't wait.

But that isn't important now. For now, let's just focus on the Red Raiders. We need to come out on fire, outplay the Red Raiders at their own game and, hopefully, our defense will show up enough for us to win. Hopefully.

With the homer in me and all that, I'll take us to win; Kansas 42 Texas Tech 35. A good-but-not-great effort by our defense is enough, as our offense is clicking on all cylinders.

Won't be here for the Game Thread, hopefully some of you will carry it on.

I may stop in occasionally

But I’m going to be all over the map, watching K-State and trying to catch a little of TTU/KU and NU/BU.

I can understand that for sure...

I’ve been asked for years to go to Lincoln for the KU game and this year is the first time I’ve even considered it.

You should go to Lincoln

I actually grew up in Nebraska, and have been to at least 10 games up there. If you’ve never been, Lincoln can be a pretty good time. And who knows, you may get to witness history, seeing KU win there for the first time since The Great Depression (or whenever it was).

Unfortunately I’ve got a prior commitment and won’t be able to otherwise I think I would have this year…I have been to Lincoln for the flag football championships and went to a game as well, just not a game Kansas was involved in.
